The 2022 High Performance Jr. Golf Fitness Program starts with a meeting to discuss the Jr’s goals for the upcoming season, their history with training, injury history, and physical priorities.
Once we understand where we are going, we need to assess where we are. We do this with a detailed physical assessment. This assessment includes a Titleist Performance Institute Golf Fitness Evaluation which will uncover physical causes of persistent swing faults or any movement issues that will predispose to injury, decrease efficiency and power in the swing. If there is a history if injury, a more in-depth examination will be done to ensure that the athlete is recovered from past injuries or if some additional injury rehabilitation is necessary at the beginning of the program. We record several strength and power metrics that correlate to swing speed so we can track this progress over the course of the program.
Once we have gathered physical data, customized programming is created for the JR with the following priorities:
1) Establishing healthy, pain free tissue with no lingering injuries.
2) Improve and restore range of motion in areas like hips, upper back, and shoulders to allow for an efficient uncompensated swing.
3) Improve motor coordination and ensure the Jr is using the correct muscles to perform movements. We want to ensure that the time and effort put into training yields maximum results and doesn't perpetuate and reinforce poor movement.
4) Create adequate stability and positional awareness of the more vulnerable areas of the body like the low back, knees, shoulders, and wrists.
5) Once the player is moving efficiently in and un-compromised manner, we transition into building strength, power, and explosiveness in an age-appropriate manner.
We strive to create an encouraging and empowering atmosphere to help and support your Jr reach and surpass their goals. Champions are not created in one offseason, which is why we focus on long term development of athletes and don’t skip steps and rush the process.
Other Keys features of the Program:
-Use of the RISE Exercise app to track progress, guide supplementary workouts at home or while at a gym when not training at RISE.
-Entry into the JR High Performance Group on the RISE App to support discuss and keep each other motivated and engaged.
